HIGH COUNTY WINTER HOLIDAYS IN VICTORIA

High County Winter Holidays in Victoria

Number of confirmed case dropped below 10 in Victoria. Victorians may be able to slowly go back to the business as usual from July. Victoria further ease restrictions which allows travel, overnight stays and more. Restaurants and cafes can now serve meals for up to 20 people. Tourist accommodation can open to guests but only if there are no shared facilities, like bathrooms and kitchens. Its means you may organize a family or friends get together in groups of up to 20. However, if you are planning camping, caravan parks you have to aware that bathroom and kitchen facilities are off limits.
Winter is a good time to out for bushwalk, hiking because of less hot days, less sweat, less rain days, les leeches, mosquitos, flies and ticks. Though you may argue days are short but within shot time you can see sunrise and sunset and there is no bushfire risks and travel restrictions, camping and fire bans. If you are loved to take nature photograph e.g. landscape, waterfalls etc this is the best time to go out. You will misty morning, rays in the forest, lot of water in the silky shiny waterfalls.

Mount Beauty located in north-eastern Victoria is a small town and surrounded by the mountains. Nearby destinations are Bright, Bogong, Falls Creek, Mount Buffalo and many more. Because of the geographic location with colourful autumn, chilling winter, cool spring it attracts local, interstate and international tourists for skiing in falls creek, bushwalking, bike riding.

Falls Creek is a popular winter holiday travel destination town in north-eastern Victoria, Australia very close to Mount Beauty or Bogong Village. Falls Creek is accessible by the Bogong High Plains Road from Mount Beauty all year round but it is a requirement that you carry snow chain in your car and fitted if needed.

Mount Buffalo National Park is one of the most popular location to those who don’t want to go in the crowd or ski. There are many waterfalls (Ladies Bath falls is one of the most beautiful), looks out and walking tracks. The Horn, the highest point in Mount Buffalo National Park at 1,723m. View from the top of the horn is spectacular. Mount Buffalo offers many walks, Snowplay & Tobogganing opportunities.

One of my personal favorited location and highly recommended walk in the Mount Buffalo National Park is Cathedral Rock.  It is surrounded by alpine plateau. There are two short walks nearby – The Horn and Chalwell Galleries tracks. During the winter sunset it offer uncompromising beauty. I promise I will write more about Mount Buffalo in another blog post.

It would be extremely stressful to make a day trips to those locations. I strongly recommend to organise an accommodation in Victoria’s regional location such as Bright, Mount Beauty, Falls Creek so you can enjoy the beauty. If you need local travel information look out for blue and yellow 'i' sign at local landmarks and tourist attractions, or in the centre of regional towns.
