A floating market economy
The Damnoen Saduak Floating Market, situated 110 kms west of Bangkok is commonly known as Floating Market. It is a very attractive place for tourists to see the old style and traditional way of selling of products by the surrounding villagers. Not only a beauty or a tradition the market also has a great economic impact on the local population. In 1866 King Rama IV ordered that a 32 kms long canal be dug at Damnoen Saduak. This canal would connect the Mae Klong River with the Tacheen River.
